HEEDMATTIK

Matt Hawkins AKA heedMattik likes to write electronic music. Writing with normally cold instruments that are mostly digital, found sound, tracked musical friends and several unorthodox recording measurements, hM tries to spin a bit of a soul into a cold digital medium. Inspired by several different styles and genre's, hM takes refuge in the disciplines of various sounds and aural swatches. Using a predominately soundtrack-esque style as a feel to his vision, emotions play a huge part for heedMattik in the meaning that his tones and rhythm's represent his current thought or feeling at the moment of conception. Having been bred and raised in Houston with a very musical family, hM was able to discover melody and harmony through an array of genres. From Prog-rock to Southern hip-hop, Folk to Techno, Jazz to funk, Beethoven to breakbeats, hM's genre bending instrumentals continue to make listeners think about what he was trying to portray and love it or hate it.

2009 holds a lot great things for heedMattik as he is finishing up his 2nd full length (an answer to his 2007 "Eustachian Travels") album currently titled "New Host Age" due early February on Billionsnares. Working as a full-time composer/sound designer for his boutique agency, Workbench Creative in Seattle, WA, he is also constructing a full length album with his band and fellow label-mates Dime in Mind.
